New work

These drawings are part of a new series where I explore memories and perceptions in different timelines. This series was inspired by the need to celebrate the life of my father a self-thought amateur architect who drew on transparent paper multiple beautiful plans for impossible buildings and who used to take my brother and me around the churches in Rome to look in awe at the surrounding beauty.

The technique I use is directly a celebration of what my father used to do as a draftsman, instead of impossible buildings I layer details of works by renaissance masters, such an important part of growing up and my daily inspiration in my art practice, to create new visual and spiritual meanings. The choices of which masterpiece to explore is left to chance, free associations and memories: only in this way the final layered composition reveals a truth I had not already considered.
